It is commonly known that music has a huge influence on your mood and concentration. Music helped Thomas Jefferson write the Declaration of Independence. When he could not figure out the right wording for a certain part, he would play his violin to help him. The music helped him get the words from his brain onto the paper. I know from experience that listening to a certain genre of music changes my gaming performance in niveau and style.

Psytrance with heavy guitars as well as ambient sounds influence your gameplay the most. While with metal you play more aggressive and offensive, you play more defensive with epic soundscapes. From my experience I can tell I play with Incubus' album S.C.I.E.N.C.E. the best.
What's your favorite music to listen to while gaming? Tell me in the comments, I'm curious ;)
It depends on which kind of game im playing. I listen mostly house or electro house when playing Pro evolution soccer.
ReplyDeleteTouhou remixes or arrangements.
ReplyDeleteGoes great with everything :)
I remember that GTA: San Andreas would let you personalize your music stations with your own music. I thought that was so good! I'd play a lot better with my own music, haha.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I do notice that whenever I'm PvPing or doing some fast-paced action I like to turn on techno or heavy music because it augments my mood a lot better. Btw, do you play UT3 on computer or PS3? I like the game as an FPS more than something like CoD cause it's a lot more interesting.
ReplyDeletei like mellow music to keep me calm
ReplyDeletenew incubus sucks...old incubus kicks ass
ReplyDeleteHey! totally agree with Godfrey, GTA San andres is awesome, and the custom music included was great too
ReplyDeleteUsually i listen all kinds of metal while i'm playing a game. but there is times that I prefer the game song
PD:following you!
I used to listen to lyrics-less music while studying, it really does help wipe out everything else off your mind when you need to concentrate on one thing. Nice post mate, keep it up!
ReplyDeleteReally depends on the game...
ReplyDeletekilling and what not needs metal.
I just like to listen to the game music, I can't get enough of the Final Fantasy 7 music or zelda :)
ReplyDeleteHaha gotta love Incubus while gaming. You should check out Animals as Leaders. It's all I listen to while gaming anymore. Anywho, great blog man. I'll definitely keep following.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my blog too. Cheers!
Well, I like the soundtracks to the games i'm playing, I never just play music over it. Unless there's no music. Then i'll just play some classical stuff over it.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. I remember music and sound effects at Doom saga. I almost pooed on
ReplyDeleteSome soundtracks for certain games are beautifully composed such as the Persona series, or Final Fantasy.
ReplyDeleteAnd Pokemon original.
Usually i listen to the radio with all kinds of stuff on it, but when i'm playing something in some sort of PvP then i like rock music the most. it gives some sort of boost :)
ReplyDeleteTry listening to C418, they do the music for minecraft
ReplyDeleteI usually just listen to the game's music if it has any, especially if its an FPS so I can hear everything.
ReplyDeletei prefer to listen to in game music
ReplyDeleteI mostly listen to metal/dubstep. It gives me that rush of energy to keep up with what's going on ;)
ReplyDeleteWhen I play Tetris I play the best with metal, for some reason.
ReplyDeleteWith Minecraft I listen to Folk and I build more expansive structures if I listen to folk.
WoW? Black metal, all black metal.
Bajo tooie/kazooie music was the best =D
ReplyDeleteI always have to listen to metal while gaming.
ReplyDeleteDepends on the type of game I'm playing to be honest.
ReplyDeleteDJ okawari or final fantasy music is good for casual games, but need to bust out the soil, inflames, and other hardcore stuff.
Loving the blog, followed. Nice taste in music
I listen to my own music when I play games. nevertheless nice blog, following ;)
ReplyDeleteI tend to listen to heavy, fast stuff, although I do also have a soft spot for the softer music. I'll easily agree with you that music can improve your gaming performance. Or just concentration levels in general, either way the right type of music = win.
ReplyDeleteI listen to Seether while playing monster hunter, so it's always an epic fight, even if I lose
ReplyDeleteMusic's a big deal, and, like game, depends on my mood. +followed, for life, bring me some more gaming stuff! http://cryptozen.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteOh, no heavy stuff please. I enjoy balkan beats or acidjazz most when playing ego-shooters or LoL. Makes it less serious.
ReplyDeleteReally depends on what im playing but if its like pvp styled, i usually listen to anything fast mainly cause it gets me pumped and i feel like i react faster when im hyper.
ReplyDeleteWell I don't game really but I concentrate best with chill, melodic stuff usually.
ReplyDelete+followed
I like to listen to metal while playing Starcraft2, but when I play Amnesia I just dont use any music at all.
ReplyDeleteI love to hear high violet while playing lol
ReplyDeleteMine depends mainly on the game that i am playing but it can vary from relaxed pop kinda music if im playing something like poker or and RTS game, but for shooters cant do past something like ADTR, just to pump you up!
ReplyDeleteI love unreal :D
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm into Ratatat. Usually something without lyrics like liquid dnb and similar.
ReplyDeleteI somewhat disagree. It seems that when I listen to music, I do worse.
ReplyDeleteBut it is an interesting idea that you have posted.
Depends on the game - fast metal for shootemups!
ReplyDeleteGTA soundtrack was amazing, no need for your own music on that
GTA soundtrack was almost as good as bioshocks. nothing alike of course
ReplyDeletedon't really have a favorite for gaming but incubus is such a great band!
ReplyDeleteI personally like RPG music! Like FF series music.
ReplyDeletewhat's the name of the song in second video?
ReplyDeleteand about gaming music. for me, best game soundtrack that i ever heard was Diablo 1 soundtrack. Matt Uelmen is the man [;
These are cool songs, but i kinda love to listen to rock while playing video games ").
ReplyDeleteThe song is called Set me on Fire by Pendulum.
ReplyDelete___________
Thanks for the massive feedback! I listened to most of them by now and they really rock! I agree with the GTA soundtrack. I still listen to some of those from there e.g. Ice Cube - Check Yourself
Crust Punk. Only.
ReplyDeleteGood songs! Need a good one to play to! Followed! alphabetalife.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteAm I lame because I like old games like Tetris?
ReplyDeleteA lot of games these days really don't focus enough on the soundtrack, it's a shame. In the 16-bit days there were so many classic tunes.
ReplyDeleteAnything rock for me
ReplyDeleteI listened to so much Radiohead when I was into Halo 3.
ReplyDeletei do not listen to music whilst I game... i focus too hard
ReplyDeleteI listen to Mutemath while I'm playing mostly
ReplyDeleteusually I just listen to whatever music they put in the game, but once I'll scrounge around for something when it fits the mood
ReplyDeleteThe game's music is normally good enough for me. Especially if the music is particularly good, like in most Sega games
ReplyDeleteAlso, I really like this blog,. It's interesting and evidently, a lot of hard work has gone into it. /Follow
Death metal. Cannibal Corpse, Gojira, The Black Dhalia Murder etc, etc
ReplyDeleteDubstep, Eminem, or my hardcore mix.
ReplyDeleteFoo fighters and Metallica =)
ReplyDeletewhen playing something that is fast paced i need something that is also fast, so i go metal. when playing something like an rpg (fallout 3-NV, elders scrolls) i like the music in the game because of the atmosphere it sets.
ReplyDeleteSounds like 90's games
ReplyDeleteharsh noise, power electronics, and Coil.
ReplyDeletecoil is the best
^^ i agree with the above comment strongly.
ReplyDeletei love old incubus...just thought I would share that again
ReplyDeleteI just listen to the game's music... almost all the games I've played rely on you picking up a noise to know something is attacking from behind or somewhere, your own music can also kill all the tension in some stuff :(
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine puts Hammerfalls "Hearts on fire" on repeat and goes PvP-ing in WoW. It's fun because he gets pumped and you can actually notice a difference in his play style. :P
ReplyDeleteI usually have my playlist on random, so what I listen to is not organized at all. Usually it's rock or metal though. Even when listening to metal I keep playing more defensive than I should more often than not.. strange :/
ReplyDeleteI remember someone told me he played the old Star Craft with a Dragon Force song during Zerg Rush... I personally prefer theme specific music for each game, unless the game has a great soundtrack.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I find the music in Terraria kind of addictive as simple and repetitive as it is.
old incubus!
ReplyDeletei love listening to trance, dnb or electro while gaming :)
